Judah Goes Into Captivity in Babylon

WOW, we have come to the END of the study of the KINGS of JUDAH and ISRAEL.    I have enjoyed teaching all these lessons to my KIDDOS.   It is hard to believe that we have reached this point in the HEBREWS history.   Just a reminder, I teach  Early Childhood ages 4 1/2 year olds-7 year olds.

Our Do You Know Wall is ready with our WHO? WHAT? WHEN? WHERE? WHERE? WHY? and HOW IS THIS IMPORTANT TO ME?  cards.

Our INFORMATION WALL is ABOUNDING with information on the Divided Kingdom.    All the KINGS have a face that shows if the KING was godly (SMILE) or ungodly (FROWN.)    We have all the KINGS represented!!!

This is our CARD for our “GOD’S AWESOME PLAN FOR MAN” timeline WALL.

I decided to use my CITY of JERUSALEM BLOCKS for my VISUAL AID!    I just printed out some “flames,” laminated them and folded the bottoms to make them stand up.  I have the city displayed with the WALLS all knocked down.    I think this will be a very effective VISUAL.

I have several of my wooden peg HEBREWS lined up…they look as if they are being MARCHED off into Babylonian captivity.

I also have a picture of  “Jerusalem and the Temple” on fire…this is sitting on our table.

Our MAP WALL is BUSY…I use this area to display past EXPLORER JOURNAL activities.

We have not had to many PLACES to add to our MAP. But, this week we have a LARGE arrow and Babylon added to the MAP…. I did put Babylon WAY over to the right side…..I want to demonstrate that the Hebrews went WAY away from their homeland.

The KIDDOS will have a new song to sing…It is reminiscent of the “Captivity” song for ISRAEL.   However, this one is ALL about JUDAH.  This is sung to the tune:  “Farmer in the Dell.”

It Is So Sad To Say…Judah Captivity Song.  by Ronda L. Duvall.

Because I want to focus on the NEED for us to TRUST GOD and not be like the nation of JUDAH….I decided to use PROVERBS 5:3 as our MEMORY VERSE.

If you would like to hear the tune for this Memory Verse click the link…it will open the FB page for Hands On Bible Teacher.

Memory Verse Song Proverbs 5:3

The KIDDOS “TAKE HOME” activity is a type of SUBWAY art.    I printed the verse and cut out the heart.  The KIDDOS will get to add their OWN picture to their SUBWAY art.  If the KIDDOS want to color on their SUBWAY art–they can. I want them to enjoy making them and want them to LOOK forward to displaying them.

I decided to use the MEMORY VERSE…I want the KIDDOS to remember to TRUST in the LORD!!!

I purchased the frames and the ribbon at the Dollar Tree.  I have blue and red ribbon.  I will allow the KIDDOS to choose their ribbon color.

I hope the KIDDOS and their parents LOVE these!!!  I think it turned out sweet.

Our REVIEW game is called:  FLAMES and CHAINS Bowling.  The idea is that the KIDDOS will draw a question card, ANSWER the question then get the opportunity to BOWL…IF they get pull a CHAIN card then they get a point for each CHAIN pin they knock down.  If they pull a FLAME card they get a point for each FLAME pin they knock down.  I know they are going to LOVE the BOWLING aspect of this game.  🙂

Next week we will REVIEW this LESSON and the KIDDOS will do their EXPLORER JOURNAL activity.    This activity is a SLIDING type activity.  It is similar to the EXPLORER JOURNAL activity the KIDDOS made, when we learned about Israel going into captivity.

The arrow is sort of 3D…it POPS up off the MAP.  The city of Jerusalem is printed on the MAP.  I cut a slit in the MAP with an razor blade.  In order for the KIDDOS to be able to SLIDE their HEBREWS from Jerusalem to Babylon we will attach their HEBREWS to these small wooden craft stick.    It makes it very easy to slide the Hebrews.

Where did you get the "city of Jerusalem blocks"?

I'm so glad you shared this, and so thankful for the good ideas! Our kids are getting ready to study the captivity and exile period, and I'm working on a bulletin board very, very similar to your last image of the map with the captives being taken from burning Jerusalem to Babylon. I would LOVE if you could tell me where you got the burning Jerusalem image as well as the picture of the soldiers leading the Israelites away. It's exactly what I was looking for!!! Thanks so very much!

I know this is old, but the memory verse you quote is Proverb 3:5, not 5:3. 5:3 is about strange women.
